- Despite the Euphoria One Must Remain Cautious
The state pension in Spain has risen by 4.9 % this month, and now stands at an average of 861.49 euros.
The ministry of work and immigration have revealed that, despite the recession, Spanish pension payments have still increased over the last year. Last year’s average monthly pension payment was calculated at 759.86 Euros.
In calculating the average state pension, economists took into account not only retirement funds but also pensions for widows and widowers, disability, and orphans.
The Basque Country tops the pensions ‘league table’ with payments of 1,077.66 euros per month, followed by the Asturias (1,066.53 euros) and Madrid (1,035.63 euros), with Galicia standing at the foot of the table at just 706.60 euros per month.
Disability pensions are also highest in the Basque Country, at 1,073.15 euros, followed by Asturias (1,020.14 euros).Murcia has the second-lowest disability pension at 713.78 euros a month, only just ahead of Extremadura’s 681.48 euros.
