Talks are currently underway to see an increase in flights operating out of the Federico García Lorca airport (Granada) and the Provincial Government of Granada is thought to have initiated meetings with seven companies with a view to bringing more tourists to the province. The government is understood to have already had meetings with Air Berlin and Vueling and plans further meetings with Air Lingus at the Fitur International Tourism Fair which takes place in Madrid later this month.
Europa Press reported that other Airlines to be included in theses meetings would be Air Europa and Quantum Air.
The President of the provincial government, Antonio Martínez Caler, expressed his concern on Monday, at the subsidy that Ryanair receives for its Granada operation. The current subsidy agreement expires in March and there appears to be doubts that it will be renewed.
