Two aeroplanes operated by the Irish airline, Ryanair, grazed each other at 11.10 on Thursday morning in the holding zone at the bottom of the runway at Girona-Costa Brava airport, where they were preparing to take off.
According to sources at the airport, the left wing of one of the planes scraped the tail of the other as they were in the holding zone waiting for permission to take off.
Although the damage was barely perceptible, safety protocol meant that both had to return to the parking area and all the passengers had to disembark while a thorough check of the fuselage was carried out.
