The AVE high speed train service between Málaga and Madrid will be running even faster from the end of the month. RENFE Spanish railways say they are cutting ten minutes off the journey time from January 31.
It comes as a new timetable has been established for the high-speed services to Andalucía, during which time ticket sales were suspended. Now the new times are set and the tickets are back on sale.
The company says a 99% punctuality record allows them to reduce times on the direct service to two hours 25 minutes, and to two hours 40 minutes on services which stop on the way.
In addition the first train from Málaga now leaves at the earlier time of 6,15am allowing travellers to be in Madrid for 9am despite stops at Antequera, Córdoba, and Puente Genil.
All 22 trains a day, 11 in each direction, will travel at the faster speed.
