The regional government of Murcia last week confirmed that the cancellation of the contract with Aeromur - the previous concession holder of Corvera Airport - late last year has resulted in further complications for the troubled facility.
Sources have told how the certificate granted by the State Aviation Safety Agency (EASA) late last year specifically mentioned SACYR - the major shareholder of Aeromur.
Now that Aeromur is no longer the operator of the facility the certificate is therefore invalid, and a further application must be made by the new operator - and this can only be done once one has actually been appointed.
It is anyone's guess as to what impact this will have on the latest 'guarantee' made by the regional government that Corvera Airport will be operational by May 2016.
