Abducted UK schoolgirl believed to be in Almeria

 

Police believe a 14-year-old girl from Oldham who went missing last month has been abducted by a man who has taken her to Spain.

Camilia Lupu, originally from Romania, was last seen at a relative's home in Oldham, on June 26.

Police made a public appeal to try and trace her three days later but she has still not been found.

Now detectives say they believe she has been taken to the Almeria area of Spain by a 37-year-old man Alin Coman, also from Romania.

He is wanted for alleged child abduction.

Camilia's parents are due to hold a joint press conference at 1pm today with the detective who is leading the manhunt.

When she was last seen at around 6.30pm on Friday, June 26, she was wearing her school uniform, a black skirt and a black leather jacket over the top.

She is white, around 1.4m tall, slim with long dark hair and brown eyes.

Det Insp Mark McDowall, based at Oldham police station, said at the time she went missing: "Camilia's family are frantic with worry not knowing where she is, and police in Oldham are carrying out significant enquiries to try and locate Camilia so we can ensure she is safe.

"If Camilia herself can see or hear this appeal, then I would like to reassure her that she is not in any trouble, but please contact either the police or her family so we know she is ok."

Anyone with information is asked to call the Central Neighbourhood Policing Team at Oldham police station on 101.
