Spanish mobile telephony connections fell by 43,633 lines in November compared to the previous month to reach a total of 50.61 million, 0.1%less than the year-earlier figure.
The latest monthly update published by telecoms regulator CNMC revealed that a 68,590 increase in the number of postpaid lines in November was unable to offset a 112,223 fall in prepay lines.
A total of 420,639 lines were ported in November, some 8.7% less than a year ago, with the leading operators all posting monthly declines at the expense of the Spanish MVNOs, which added 37,500 lines to reach a total of 9.06 million and 17.9% of the market.
The country’s four leading operators – Movistar, Vodafone, Orange and Yoigo – declined by 24,830, 23,150, 6,040 and 27,120 lines respectively compared to the previous month.
