On Tuesday Spain's Ministry of Health reported a further 2 new cases of people thought to be infected with Zika virus.
This raises the number of infectees in the country to 9, including one pregnant woman.
A statement released by the Ministry confirmed that all patients came to Spain from Zika-infected countries in Latin America, where they became infected with the virus.
The ministry, however, said there was no danger that the virus would spread in Spain.
The World Health Organization (WHO) declared early this month that Zika virus was a Public Health Emergency of International Concern, and projected 3-4 million people might be infected this year unless new drugs developed to cure it.
