Information released by the Ministry of Public Works earlier this week revealed how the number of building licences granted in 2015 for new-build homes totaled 49,695.
This represented growth of 42.5% , with licences granted for the 2014 standing at 34,873, and representing the second year of growth.
35,025 of the licences granted were for apartments (up 50.3%), and 14,651 were for individual family homes (up 26.8%).
2014 saw a return to building growth (up 1.7%), following 7 years of contraction.
This came after a record low in the year 2013 when just 34,288 licences were granted - representing a 96% fall on the record high year of 2006 when a total of 865,561 permits were issued.
