Orange has reached a preliminary agreement with trade union CCOO (Workers' Commissions) over its collective dismissal plans, reports El Economista.
Under the terms of the draft deal, the operator will commit to reducing the number of redundancies to 496 from the initial 550, all of them voluntary, and refrain from cutting any more jobs for at least two years.
The cuts will affect Orange workers in the provinces of Madrid, Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Valladolid, said the report.
The redundancies are due to the restructure arising from Orange’s EUR 3.4 billion takeover of Spanish broadband operator Jazztel, although the operator said it also has plans to create 300 new jobs in its Spanish customer service centres.
