Earlier this week the Regional President of Murcia, Pedro Antonio Sánchez, announced that the tender for the operation of Corvera International Airport will be tendered before Christmas.
This, he said, represents the "first definitive step" to bring the stricken facility into operation.
Sánchez told journalists that the tender award will be very closely followed by a series of meetings with a number of Airlines and Tour Operators.
This news came just days after the region's San Javier Airport announced the establishment of number of new routes to the UK.
