asMovil once again topped Spain’s mobile portability figures in February, a month that saw a total of 488,000 changes of operator, according to data published by website economiza.com.
Not only did MasMovil attract some 22,000 new customers with its own offer, a further 2,500 signed up to its recently acquired Yoigo brand, although its other main brand – Pepephone – lost 1,300 lines in February.
Orange was the only other major operator with positive monthly figures, gaining around 2,700 customers of its own plus a further 1,300 via its Simyo brand. Vodafone and Movistar (Telefonica) were the big losers in February, shedding 26,000 and 17,000 customers respectively, although Vodafone’s low-cost brand Lowi managed to attract 5,700 new lines.
In the MVNO market, regional operators Euskaltel and Telecable added some 3,250 and 2,400 mobile lines respectively as they edge ever closer to a merger. Republica Movil (2,400), Digi Mobil (1,200), Oceans (400) and Galician operator R (300) also had a positive month, while Lebara and Eroski lost 1,200 and 600 lines respectively.
