As of today it is no longer necessary to visit the Tráfico offices in person to renew your driving licence. A change to the current law now means that you will now be able to pay for the new licence at the same place where your reflexes are tested.
The testing centre will now be able to issue a provisional document which entitles the holder cover to drive for 90 days, until the renewed licence arrives.
Up until today drivers had to go to the Tráfico offices to pay the charge for the new licence, although in some cases the testing centres offered to arrange this for a fee.
Motoring groups have been calling for this simplification to the law for some time and the Government intends this streamlining to benefit both the applicant and the resources at the Trafico offices.
