The three main political parties battling for victory in this week's election have failed to get to the root of the UK's pension problem, it has been claimed.
A number of property owners could be encouraged by the comments to seek equity release advice in order to see how the value of their homes could boost their incomes.
Leading independent pension expert Dr Ros Altmann said that Labour, Liberal Democrat and Conservative policies are just "tinkering on the edge" of the problem rather than recommending the "radical overhaul" that is needed.
"All three parties would look to end the default retirement age, but that in itself is not enough," she said.
"Older workers need the same kind of protections and flexibility as mothers with young children – so they can work part-time and still earn a living."
Expats with property in the UK who are concerned about the state of the UK's pension environment can find out how much money a lifetime mortgage could generate by contacting an Equity release specialist.
Voters are set to take to the polling stations to decide which party forms the next government on Thursday (May 6th).
