The unemployment rate of females in Spain, is currently the highest in Europe – standing at 18.4%.
Data released earlier today by the Economic Research Institute (EEI), shows how Spain lies at the ‘top' of the unemployment table, way ahead of second place, Latvia, where female unemployment reached 13.9% last year.
Other countries of note are Greece (13.2%), Slovakia (12.8%), Estonia (10.6%), Lithuania (10.4%) and Portugal (10.3%). The remaining twenty countries of the EU showed female unemployment figures for last year, under two figures.
France (9.8%), Hungary (9.7%) and Italy (9.3%), came in close to the Eurozone average of 9.6% while Poland (8.7%) Belgium (8.1%), Ireland (8%) and Sweden (8%) were located closer to the average of the 27 Members of the EU, at 8.8%.
Below average figures for female unemployment were recorded by the Czech Republic (7.7%), Malta and Finland (7.6% each), Germany (6.9%) Bulgaria (6.6%), United Kingdom (6.4%) and Luxembourg (6.1%).
Closing the table, with the lowest numbers across the EU are Romania (5.8%), Slovenia (5.8%), Cyprus (5.5%), Denmark (5.4%) Austria (4.6%) and, finally, the Netherlands (3.5%).
