Various members of the Spanish press have today reported how Spanish grandparents have been called upon to join the Countries general strike on Wednesday.
Many Spanish families are heavily reliant on such grandparents, who boost to Spain's economy enormously by 'working' long and unpaid hours in taking the strain cuts in free childcare for their grandchildren.
One Union leader commented "We want grandparents to strike to prove they are a key part of the way this country functions."
More than half of all grandparents in Spain look after their grandchildren on a daily basis and one in eight provides unpaid childcare for more than nine hours a day, giving Spain's older generation a key role in helping to prop up the economy by reducing costs for working families.
