Contact Insurers for help with pressure from Hospitals

Should expats find they have to make a trip to hospital, they should be aware of when they are receiving 'too much help', an article suggests.

According to the Telegraph, hospitals have been known to suggest that more tests than are necessary are needed - at extra cost - in order to be sure of a diagnosis.

However, problems can be overcome by contacting an insurer for medical assistance, the paper notes.

A duty doctor working for the insurance provider may be able to help determine exactly which tests are necessary in order to successfully diagnose or treat different ailments.

"If you feel the hospital is putting you under pressure, you should get in touch with your insurers and get a new perspective on what is going on" Hazel Gregory, a medical insurance adviser who has experienced such a situation, told the paper.

Earlier this month, the newspaper noted that planning is important when choosing expat medical insurance.
