The Partido Popular has demanded a last-minute change to the proposed ammendments to Spain's smoking laws, stating that smokers areas should be provided in bars and restaurants. The new legislation proposed to ban smoking altogther in closed public spaces in Spain.
The ammendments to the law were being discussed for the final time by the Senate today, and the PP have once again presented the suggestion of creating smokers rooms - as they did to Congress previously, without success.
If the suggestion is upheld, this ammendment will be added to the propesed changes to legislation. A final debate will then take place by the Senate Health Commission, where if agreed, it will come into effect in the new year.
