Travellers affected by the lightening strike action by Spain's ari traffic controllers over the last holiday weekend are demanding as much as 10,000 euros each in compensation. However the Spanish Airports Authority, AENA, had only foreseen payouts of 600 Euros per head.
There have also been reported incidents of passengers who missed their holidays due to the action taking legal action against the air-traffic controllers involved in the strike.
One legal advisor representing around 5,000 of the affected passengers, considers that the strikers are not ordinary public sector workers and have 'a legal responsibility' which could result in a prison sentence.
So far, the striking controllers have refused to testify. The case continues.
