An Andalucian Funeral Director is selling raffle tickets where the winning prize is for a free funeral. The prize can be donated to anybody the winner chooses, but entrants must be over 55 years of age.
450 tickets has been sold so far for the draw, which takes place next month, and there is no time limited under which the winning prize can be claimed, and the funeral 'issued'.
The cost of a funeral in Spain can run to thousands of euros and has risen considerably over the last decade. With costs expected to increase further still over coming years, relatives of those who die with no means of paying for the ceremony can find themselves in debt, which is one of the main reasons the enterprising funeral parlour decided to hold the draw.
