A collection of 17 of Spain's largest companies have united to create a think-tank to help boost the country's economic competitiveness and win back confidence from the international business community.
The aim is to generate ideas, help Spain compete more effectively with other countries, and improve its image so that it can restore trust from international investors. The overall aim being to bring an economic recovery, Telefonica Chairman Cesar Alierta, who is heading the group, said.
<"We all agree that our economy has problems," Alierta said today at Telefonica's headquarters in Madrid. "Boosting competitiveness requires change, measures and reforms and also experience, skills and shared work."
Companies involved in the project are Acciona, Mapfre, Actividades de Construccion & Servicios, Iberdrola, Ferrovial, Telefonica, Banco Santander and Repsol aswell as Spain's Institute for the Family Business.
