Spain's Ministry of Labor reported earlier today that the number of people applying for unemployment benefits increased during March by 34,406, meaning that the number of unemployed now stands at an all-time high of 4.3 Million.
This represents a 0.8% increase on February's figures.
The actual figure of those who are unemployed (as opposed to claiming unemployment benefit) is released separately each quarter and is currently the highest in the eurozone, at 20.3%, with almost 4.7 million people out of work.
The two sets of statistics differ due to many people's jobless benefits having expired.
When compared to last year's figures, the number of people claiming benefits rose by 167,056, or 4.01%.
