According to a recent report published by the IDC for Business Software Alliance (BSA), the Spanish regions with the highest useage of pirated software are Andalusia, Extremadura, Valencia and Castilla La Mancha.
The BSA warned that the use of such pirated software in these regions was as high as recorded in Greece, Egypt and Colombia, where pirated software accounts for between 55% and 60% of all software used.
It was estimated that the use of pirated software in Spain in 2009 alone cost the industry around 631 million, down on the 2007 figure of 640 million.
