A Spanish court is considering a legal case brought by Spain's Grupo Codere against Gibraltar-based online gaming company bwin and the Spanish football team, Real Madrid.
Codere, who operate 127 bingo halls, 415 sport betting shops and 13 casinos in 8 different countries, alleges unfair competition in a civil lawsuit against bwin and the club filed in a commercial court in the capital. The Plaintiff is complaining against what they see as aggressive advertising campaigns between bwin and Real Madrid, which are against Spanish laws.
The court in Madrid is due to meet later today in order to decide whether to impose an end to advertising campaigns and sponsorship arrangements with bwin, which may mean the football team having to stop bearing the bwin logo.
