Spanish Telecomms operator, Yoigo, has financial growth for the second consecutive quarter and the EBITDA improved to 4.11 million Euros compared to making a loss of 29.46 euros million in the first quarter of 2010.
The improvement has been due to higher revenues and an increased share of traffic in Yoigo's own network as well as a higher share of postpaid subscriptions. Net sales in local currency increased by 39% year-on-year.
According to company spokesman, the growth was mainly due to higher voice revenues as a result of strong subscription intake. Yoigo continued to gain market share and showed positive result for every month in the quarter.
However, the operator had seen reduced revenues from equipment sales than in previous quarters, and also experienced lower growth in usage as a result of the weak Spanish economy. The operator added 800,000 subscribers in the period, bringing the total customers base at 2.5 million at end-March.
