People considering expatriating have been reminded that there are a lot of things to consider when relocating abroad .
Rhiannon Davies, director of Shelter Offshore, advised people to work out if they are entitled to live and work in their desired country.
"They need to know if there are sufficient employment options so that if the first job doesn't work out there are others they can apply for," she explained.
Ms Davies added that it is also worth looking at how easy it will be to integrate and whether there will be any language or cultural barriers.
Earlier this week, the NatWest Quality of Life Index showed that expatriates are enjoying the best quality of life in Canada. Out of all the countries in the world, Spain is the most consistent, remaining in seventh place for the fourth consecutive year.
The Quality of Life Index survey was conducted between October and November of last year, and asked expats to rate their lives abroad based on assessments of such lifestyle indicators as the availability of key consumer goods, entertainment, food, law enforcement, public transport, sanitation, housing, public services, leisure and cultural activities, healthcare provision and education. Retirement facilities, the weather, financial factors and the natural environment were also addressed.
