A total of five cities across Spain will see candidates stand representing the PIRUM Romanian political party in the country's coming local elections.
The Romanians currently represent the largest immigrant community in Spain, and over 5% of the population overall comes from Romanian parentage.
PIRUM, which is the first political party to represent foreigners and their interests in Spain, was created two years ago and of the nine cities where the party was attempted to be registered stand in elections, only five of them are where Romanians make up at least 5% of the population. Statistically speaking, the party could be able to win a seat on these local councils.
Florin Bjor, the party president, spoke of how all candidates had financed their own campaigns personally, but how they were realistic about their chances.
