Spain's Minister for Europe,Diego Lopez Garrido, was in Berlin yesterday, where he told the German government that they would not sue for financial compensation, if they were to offer the Spanish help to restore confidence in their produce following the E.coli outbreak.
"Twenty-five percent of our vegetable exports are to Germany, it is our most important export market. Therefore it is also the duty of the German government to assist us with promotion."
Russia's ban on all fruit and vegetables originating within the EU is expected to be discussed at length at the EU-Russia summit, held in the Town of Nizhny Novgorod over the course of the next few days.
The number of fatalities resulting from the infection now stands at 30, with over 2'800 reported cases - almost all of them in Germany.
Whilst the infection seems to be losing momentum, Germany admits that it is no closer to knowing the exact source of the E.coli strain.
