A plane bound for Manchester was forced to make an emergency landing at Palma de Mallorca airport this lunchtime, just minutes after taking off from Ibiza.
Flight LS-170, a Boeing B-738 operated by
Jet2 , was forced into emergency action after a fire broke out in one of the engines.
The quick and calm action of the pilot and crew meant that the plane was able to land safely and all 186 persons on board were able to exit the aircraft in the usual manner.
A replacement airplane has been dispatched from Manchester to fly passengers back to the UK as engineers are investigating the cause of the fault.
