Police have cleared around two-dozen protestors who had been camping in the capital's Puerta del Sol square.
The operation began at 6am this morning and the police were able to persuade the demonstrators to move on peacefully, without any arrest or any violence or injuries reported on either side. By 9am there was no sign that the campers had ever been there.
The original M15 camp had been a temporary home to tens of thousands of protestor in their month-long occupation of the square, and was originally cleared on June 12th, only for smaller numbers of protestors to return just days later.
A number of the 'los Indignados' protesters told the Spanish press how they believed the police operation was linked to the visit of Pope Benedict for the World Youth Day festival in Madrid August 16-21.
