French farmers, who last month blocked shipments of Spanish produce at the border, have called for further protests to take place today.
As per last month, their concerns are that differences in Agricultural regulations between France and Spain mean that Spanish produce can be sold to European Supermarkets way below cost of the French produce.
The French Farmer's Union, FDSEA, is demanding that their Government implements a rescue plan for the industry, warning of a total economic collapse of agricultural sector.
Earlier this week, Farmer blocked the tolls at the Pyrenees border crossing between France and Spain. The protestors stopped five vehicles carrying fruit and vegetables and destroyed the loads.
Elsewhere, protestors broke into a wholesale warehouse in Nimes, and vented their anger at what they believed to Spanish produce. A Lidl distribution hub in the area was also targeted.
A number of farming unions and communities have called for further action today, however, as before the exact nature or location of the protests have not been specified.
