An Immigrant worker at a Home for Disabled Children in Castilla-Leon was taken into custody by police for questioning of the murder of three children.
The children, aged 3, 9 and 14 were all severely disabled and needed constant care and were believed to have been suffocated by the employee using a plastic bag. The 55 Year old female employee was found in the bathtub with cuts to her head and wrists after a suicide attempt following what is believed to be mercy killing of the children left in her care.
The Uruguayan woman had worked at the home for 6 years without incident and had been left in sole charge of the Home overnight. The three victims were the sole residents of the home at the time, although the facility can cater for up to six children.
A representative of the Ministry of the Interior in Castilla-Leon said that an investigation is currently being undertaken by the authorities.
