Later this week the Cabinet will formally request that an extraordinary meeting of the country's parliament, currently on it's summer break, that may be held as early as next week, a spokesman for the government announced earlier today.
Prime Minister Jose Luis Rodriguez Zapatero has requested to address parliament on the current economic situation during the extraordinary meeting, spokesman Jose Blanco told a local radio station.
The cabinet has scheduled meetings to take place Aug. 19 and Aug. 26 to approve its latest round of austerity measures.
