Under recent amendments to the Spanish Gambling Law (13/2011 Act), licensees can only be issued for online gambling when used with websites which have an ".es" domain name.
In the event of the company's parents or subsidiaries also operating online gambling websites with non-".es" domain names, they must redirect all visitors originating within Spain to their ".es" website.
Failure to operate through a specific website with a ".es" domain name, or to redirect visitors to an ".es" domain name may be deemed a very serious infringement of the Spanish Gambling Law
Serious penalties may be imposed with fines ranging from €1 million to €50 million.
