Castellon Airport has still to implement the corrective measures required of it in the Environmental Impact Statement (EIS), published by the Group for the Study of Natural Areas (GECEN). Environmentalists have lobbied the Ministry of Public Works not to grant the airport an operating licence until such measures are met.
GECEN has asked the Ministries of Development and Environment to instruct all developers and builders working at the airport to take measures to protect a number of different aspects concerning the Environment.
Despite the objections of GECEN, the company that manages the airport can continue to operate until it is awarded the permits.
Yesterday put 6.5 Million Euros worth of services out to tender, the services tendered include security services and baggage handling.
