The Catalonian regional government has denied permission for a protest march by locals opposing plans for a Mosque to be built in their town.
The demonstration had been originally planned to take place on Saturday in Salt, a Town of around 30'000 residents, of which more than 40% are foreign, by an anti-immigration group calling themselves 'Platform for Catalonia'.
The Catalan department of the Interior were concerned about the possibility of violence between Muslims and Protestors. There were also concerns that other Muslim groups across the region would organise their own rally in support of a the Mosque being built.
