The strikes called by the Spanish Footballers Association (AFE) for this weekend has now been called off, following a resolution with the Spanish Football League (LFP).
Last weekend's opening matches were cancelled and if this weekend's matches failed to go ahead it looked likely to cause logistical problems in finding enough time to play the required games in the league's notoriously busy schedule.
The AFE's official website comments how an agreement has been arrived at whereby the league will guarantee €50 million which is owed to more than 200 players in unpaid wages and which allows players to be released from their contracts if wages are not paid in future.
