The Ministry of Health has demanded that Twitter blocks access to sites which encourage anorexia suffers.
Such sites have grown in popularity over recent years, and have become referred to by patients and specialists in eating disorders as 'pro-ana' sites.
These websites often revolve around building a network of patients and sufferers who exchange various pieces of information surrounding the condition online, including details of their weightless and tips on how to achieve their respective goals.
The recent number of complaints from the general public about such sites has prompted the Ministry of Health to take up the issue with the social network.
However, the existence of such websites is not in breach of any law, the only way in which this move may be successful is if Twitter agree with the proposal to limit the influence of such websites, it is only their user names that may be blocked as opposed to the site itself.
