Almost 10,000 Spanish school teachers, students and parents held a protest rally in Madrid on Wednesday against the regional authorities decision to cut spending on public education.
According to a new plan, many local teachers will face redundancies and the remaining ones will be forced to work longer hours to cover the staffing shortfall. The city authorities expect that this measure will result in savings of around 80 million Euros.
School teachers plan to hold another protest next week.
