Teachers Unions have called a strike in the capital on the 20th and 21st of September in protest of the regional government's cut backs on the Education budget.
Union leaders have reported that thousands of teachers at over 400 schools are taking action over demand that they must work an extra two hours per day to cover staffing shortages as a result of forced redundancies and temporary staff lay-off's.
Madrid's PP run regional administration is attempting to make savings of 80 Million Euros.
A national strike of teachers has also been called for October 22nd.
