Spanish teachers have taken to the streets of the capital once again today in a second day of protests against planned cuts to the regional education system.
A third day of strikes is also planned for tomorrow by Union leaders, who claim that 80% of teaching staff will stay away from their jobs in support of their stance against the regional government.
Action has also been planned by teachers in Galicia, whose education system is witnessing similar cuts, however until now the full extent of action in the North-Western region has been no more extreme than a half-hour 'chalk down' period where staff refused to teach.
Yesterday the Regional president of Madrid angered teachers and Union leaders by saying how they only actually worked for half of their contracted hours anyway.
