The wanted Paedophile, believed to be on the run in Spain after evading the UK authorities, was arrested in Mijas yesterday. The arrest of Dominic Steven Powell came just hours after his profile was realesed in a joint operation between Crimewatch, the Child Exploitation and Online Protection Centre (CEOP), and the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA).
The appeal for information concerning his whereabout was officially published on the operation Captura webpage, who celebrated 5 years of tracking down wanted criminals in Spain earlier this week.
Powell's arrest brings the success rate of operation Captura means that 47 out of a total 60 wanted criminal have now been arrested.
Powell was wanted in order to serve a 16 week prison sentence for failing to provide notification of foreign travel as part of his reporting requirement as a Very High Risk Registered Sex Offender. In addition he is wanted for prosecution in relation to indecent assaults, offences of sexual activity with a child, attempted rape, making indecent images of children and further offences of failing to comply with police notification requirements.
The operation Captura website now lists nine criminals on the run from the authorities in the UK and thought to be in Spain. The web site can be viewed by clicking here.
