Following last week's underwater volcanic eruption off the coast of La Restinga, el Hierro, a further two earthquakes have been felt this morning.
The quakes occurred between midnight and 04.00 this morninng, with a magnitude of 1.5 and 2.3 on the richter scale and located between 20 and 23km beneath the town of La Frontera.
This follows the earthquakes that were registered yesterday, measuring between 10 and 25 km deep and averaging 2.6 on the richter scale, which was felt by residents. The regional government of the Canary Islands government is reported to be considering it's postion on evacuations, just days after allowing the town of la Restinga to return to their homes after being evacuated following the underwater eruption just a few miles from the town.
Whilst the volcano itself is reported to be 'stable', the recent spate of earthquakes could indicate that magma is moving deep below the surface.
The Youtube video shows that activity seems to be far from over !
