In just less than two weeks time Jesus Samper, President of Proyectos Emblemáticos Murcianos S.A., will make the payment of 15 Million Euros to take legal ownership of a 1.8 Million square meter plot of land on the outskirts of Alhama de Murcia.
The company, otherwise know as Premursa, is the licence holder and developer of the proposed Paramount Pictures theme park project.
It is believed that the contract will stipulate a condition of purchase that all construction on the site must be finished by 2015.The projects carries the hopes and expectations of many businesses and induviduals on it's shoulders - recent estimates suggested that the park could generate as much as 2% of the region's GDP - amounting to 500 Million Euros once fully operational, which will be more than double the contribtion to GDP than the rest of the region's tourism sector.
The park is also expected to provide a total of 26'000 direct and indirect jobs a time when the regional rate of unemployment is close to 17%, an estimated 145'000 people.
