The deaths of three British Pensioners from Legionnaires disease has caused an uproar in the the Valencia regional parliament.
The tourists were part of a Saga Holiday trip staying at the Diamante Beach Hotel in Calpe on the Costa Blanca when they contracted the condition.
A Further 10 British visitors and 4 Spanish Citizens have also been affected by the outbreak - a number of who had only complained of feeling unwell on their return to the UK and subsequently received treatment from the NHS.
The Legionalla bacteria multiplies in untreated water and is sometimes spread by untreated water being dispersed through ventilation systems, however, with an adequate preventative maintenance program it can very easily be controled.
The Hotel has since been closed and deep cleaning of the plant rooms and air conditioning systems is underway, with the hotel expected to be opened for business next week.
However, Lluis Torro, the deputy spokesman for the Esquerra Unida political party, asked the PP regional government to explian why the he Valencian health authorities needed to be advised of the outbreak by the NHS in the UK.
