Air Nostrum has filed a Temporary Redundancy Order (ERTE) with the Department of Labor, and Employees representatives, which will reduce the working hours of all staff over a period of two years.
The airline is currently in a period of consultation with the UGT and CCOO unions respectively, which is due to end on the 21st of February.
The airline has stressed that the move is a suspension and not a termination of employment, but agreed that the two years period seems a "very long time".
Both the UGT and CCOO can not agree on measures to comply with the proposal
The move is expected to effect a total of 1,800 employees as of the 25th of March, when the company is due to commence it's summer period scheduling.
Air Nostrum, an Iberia airline franchisee, ended 2011 having served 4.8 million passengers at a loss of almost 10 million euros .
