An 'Action Team' from the European Commission was despatched to Spain yesterday to conducting an analysis of the problem with escalating youth unemployment.
The group are due to analyse the problem in eight EU member states between 14 to 24 February, was in Spain.
Spain currently reports that almost 50% of people in the 16 - 25 age group are unemployed and finding themselves in a situation where they have few opportunities to improve their prospects, arising largely from the increasing numbers of young people leaving school at any earlier age and with few qualifications.
The Commission notes that unemployment affects all groups of young people, but those with few qualifications and a low level of skills are most at risk.
The Action Team is due to present it's findings in Brussels once the analysis is complete to suggest ways in which small and medium sized businesses may be incentivised to produce much-needed opportunities for the next generation.
