Spain's Minister for Development, Ana Pastor, commented yesterday how the country's new airport management model has been created with assisting the regions and provinces with their plans for economic growth, and that there will be opportunities for private investment.
With regards to the subject of Murcia's airports, the Minister confirmed that her department and AENA still need to define the transfer process between San Javier and Corvera airports, and bring the ongoing negotiation process to a satisfactory conclusion.
Earlier yesterday the monthly statistics released by AENA for the month of February revealled how San Javier airport was one of the four airports in the network who saw an increase in passenger numbers over the course of the month. Passengers numbers for last month came in at 34'584, representing a growth of 10% on the same period in 2011.
Of this number, 29'000 were arrivals from overseas.
By comparison Alicante's El Altet airport saw a 12.9% fall in visitors on the same periods.
