The Catholic University of Murcia (UCAM) yesterday hosted the 'Tourism policy in the Region of Murcia' conference, which involved the CEO of Tourism in the Region, Enrique Ujaldón, along with the Head of Tourism of at the UCAM,Ginesa Martinez Vas, the Director of Innovation from the Ministry of Culture and Tourism, José Antonio Belmonte, and the Director Marketing of Tourism for Murcia, Juan Angel Martinez.
Ujaldón told the conference that "we want to promote an optimistic message to students of Tourism, and tell them that tourism in Murcia has both apresent and a future."
He continued, saying how "major changes are taking place at the legislative level, such as increased business support, elimination of administrative barriers, as well as encouraging investment, leading to the creation of jobs in the tourism sector."
The director of Tourism at UCAM, Ginesa Martinez del Vas, encouraged students to be aware of "the reality of tourism in the region, so they can prepare themselves for the future." He went on to speak in specific terms of how the Paramount Pictures theme park at Alhama de Murcia, and the new Corvera International Airport were of utmost importance in developing regional tourism, and how effective promotional campaigns for both would help to secure the future of tourism in Murcia.
Earlier this week a study by www.skyscanner.es found that Murcia was the 12th most searched destination in the whole world by holidaymakers in March.
