The President of the Castellón Province, Javier Moliner, has once agin spoken to defend the need for an airport at Castellon, commenting on Friday how "the problem with Castellón's airport did not happen 20 years ago, as they did with other Spanish airports."
Moliner went on to say how if the state [through AENA] had assumed control of Castellon airport, the province would be in a position to enjoy an increased volume of tourists and foreign visitors to the area much sooner.
"The cost of Castellón airport has been one of the lowest in Spain at 150 million euros, and that investment has been made into a tourist destination, so it will be profitable for the province," he added.
Moliner also noted how Castellon has welcomed hundreds of thousands of tourists over recent years due to the popularity of the Benicassim music festival, the hosting of the Davis Cup and the recent success of Villarreal football club.
